Online Gambling In The USA
Online gambling in the USA has seen a real growth in the last few years for a number of reasons. During the past few years most states have adopted or expanded legalized gaming as a way to gain an additional revenue source. There also has been an explosion in opening of native American Indians casinos. Gambling and betting online has increased exponentially as many people cannot get enough of what they get at the brick and mortar casinos near where they live. Gambling has produced revenues of over 84 billion in 2005 and it is still growing in the United States despite the restrictions that is placed on it. The profit that gambling makes is unreal and I am surprised that the government has not legalized it all over the country so they can make a big profit off it.Many people want gambling legalized as the profit could help many depressed areas in the United States and city governments that could use the profit to fund social programs that are really needed. There is no restriction to online gambling according to federal laws, but they did outlaw online gambling service providers and, on top of it, they’ve made it so all financial institutions can’t do transactions with gambling companies. This has made it difficult to deposit or withdraw money in casinos and because of it, many casinos do not allow US players. States that Allow Online GamblingIn reality very few states allow online gambling in fact the only one that has started to allow it is Nevada which of course makes a lot of sense since casinos are already located there anyway. We need to give you some background information first so you can fully understand this matter much better. The federal government passed laws where it was illegal for online service providers to fund money to online gambling sites in the United States thus all the sites on the Internet are offshore. This does not mean though that you will not see online gambling in the United States as the Federal government has left it up to individual states. This means if a state wants to allow it then it can be made legal. Many states either allow it or don’t care. However, some states are barred from pretty much all casinos and here is the list. If you are from these states, you need to find one of the few casinos (Bodog is one) that allows every american. List of restricted states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Michigan, New York, New Jersey and Wisconsin. If you live in these states, we advise you not to gamble online. If you’re a player from the US looking for good casinos to play, you can search on Forum Casinos and you will easily find where you’re welcome. The “best casinos” section lists the best casinos for American players. What's next for Online Gambling in the United StatesOnline gambling has really taken many different twists and turns in the last few years and look for that to continue. Ever since online gambling was basically wiped out by the federal government except for sports wagers, many people have tried to get this legalized. The House Financial Services Committee chaired by Barney Frank has held hearings to find ways that this can all work out for local, state, and federal governments as well as the consumer. On September 26, 2008 Sen. Robert Menendez introduced a bill to license Internet skill game licensing and control act. This is the first bill related to online skill games that has been introduced in the Senate. The future of online gambling right now is in the air and it is hard to determine where it could be headed. Nevada is one state that could force the issue as they are the hub of betting in the United States. If online gambling is going to be a reality eventually in the United States it will most likely be taxed so the government can make money off it. This way they have much better control than they do right now. States can actually determine if they want online gambling so the states could actually reap all the profits and I do not see the government letting that happen. There are millions of people right now wishing that the government would lift the ban so they could bet on the many online sites available. Right now all that money is going overseas or to another country when it could be helping people here. Look for things in the future to change as the government will eventually see that online gambling can be a very big money maker for them because they can tax it. It will happen eventually, but when I guess is really anybody's guess. No matter what online gambling will continue to grow until the United States government decides what they are going to do. | 1 |
